Govt to support strengthening legal institutions: Wasi

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Law Wasi Zafar on Tuesday ensured his full cooperation and support to Clifford B. Wardlaw in order to give further momentum to government’s efforts for strengthening the legal institutions and to build the capacity of its legislators and prosecutors.
He said this with is meeting with Clifford B. Wardlaw in his ministry office. Wardlaw who is Resident Legal Advisor with the US embassy has come up with a proposal to train and educate Pakistan’s legal machinery about latest techniques of investigation, counter terrorism, financial crimes, cyber terrorism, crime prevention and establishment of forensic labs for DNA testing.
Law Minister also discussed the prospects for cooperation in dealing with crimes that rise out of latest advances in communication. He asked Wardlaw to give him complete details of his proposed project so that he may forward it to the concerned departments for helpful feedback. Law Minister also promised the distinguished guest for the provision of infrastructure for the project. Meanwhile, Minister for Law Wasi Zafar on Tuesday said that serious efforts would be taken to apprehend murderers of renowned journalist Malik Muhammad Ismael.
“I would take up the matter with the IG Police for indepth investigations of the murder of Malik Ismael and arrest his killers”, Wasi Zafar accompanied by Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Maj (Retd) Tahir Iqbal told newspersons who staged a walk out of the proceedings of the National Assembly here.
The Minister also assured that ban on transmission of a private television channel would also be looked into.
