Snow adds to miseries of quake victims

ISLAMABAD—The residents of the areas devastated by the last year’s October 8 earthquake began to experience a harsh winter as snow fell somewhat early in parts of Azad Kashmir.
A large number of quake victims are still waiting for the quake compensations as the government has failed to pay compensation money to the quake survivors after a lapse of one year. The victims are still wandering around to get the first instalment of quake compensation money. After a long period of one year neither the victims have been able to construct a house for themselves nor they have got any alternative shelter to live in winter.
Due to map restriction and delay in payment of quake money to the victims the situation in the areas has become worsen. The winter has rapidly approached. Roads have been closed due to land sliding and the victims are living in a miserable situation as most of the tents are in a dilapidated condition and can not withstand against rain.—SANA
