Sense of deprivation to be removed: Muqam

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Political Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam has said that government is fully committed to alleviate the poverty and sense of deprivation among the masses of NWFP.
Talking to National Highway Authorities here at his office on Monday the minister said, it is the desire of the government to provide the basic amenities of life to the whole population of NWFP. The government is, therefore, implementing a network of public oriented projects in the province, he added.
The earlier completion of road infrastructure in the province will bring revolution in the lives of common man, the minister said. “It will not only facilitate the smooth flow of traffic on the difficult terrains of the province but also meet the long standing demands of people,” the minister added.
Amir Muqam said, government will provide every kind of help to NHA and other organizations to execute the development projects in the province. GM NHA Colonel (retd) Parvez Iqbal, GM NHA NWFP Atiq Ahmad and others briefed the minister about the NHA projects in NWFP.
They said, under N-45 two projects out of six have been completed. Work on Shergarh-Dargai, Dargai-Chakdara, Timergara-Akhagram, North Access roads and Lowari Rail Tunnel project is in progress, they said.
Minister expressed his satisfaction over the progress being made on Islamabad-Peshawar M-1 road project. National Highway Authorities informed that construction of about eight different interchanges in Peshawar would give it a look of most modern city. About Southern districts, they said, DIKhan-Mughalpura road will be completed within four months.
Other projects to be completed include Mansehra-Naran- Jharkand-Chilas road, Thaakot bridge and Mansehra-Shazeen road, they added. A delegation of Pak Planning and Works Department (PWD) also met the minister and briefed him about the Khushal Pakistan Project (KPP) 1 and 2. The minister asked them to accelerate pace of work on the projects and submit a summary to him.
