Birth
anniversary of father of modern China celebrated

ISLAMABAD—140th birth anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen a political and
revolutionary leader who is often referred to as the “father of China”
was celebrated here at National Council of the Arts (NCA).
To commemorate the event portrait exhibition highlighting the
contributions of the Chinese leader was organized at NCA, which was
witnessed by number of Chinese and Pakistani people.
Speaking on the occasion Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy Shan
Baoxiang said the founding of new China underwent tremendous twists and
endeavours and the life of Dr. Sun Yat-sen had also been a story of
struggle and self sacrifices.
“Dr Sun played an instrumental and leadership role in the eventual
overthrow of the Feudal King Dynasty in 1911, he said adding “it was him
who brought democracy to China.”
Dr. Sun was the first provisional president when the Republic of China
was founded in 1912.
Sun was a uniting figure in post-imperial China and remain unique among
20th-century Chinese politicians for being widely revered in both
mainland China and Taiwan.
In Taiwan Dr. Sun is known by the title officially officially given to
him in the Republic of China “Father of the Nation.” |
