‘FFC to establish a new urea plant’
ISLAMABAD—Chief Executive and Managing Director Fauji Fertilizer Company
Limited, Lt.Gen (retd) Munir Hafeez said on Monday that the Company
plans to set up a new urea plant in the country.
“There are three plants of the company and we want to set another
fertilizer plant in the country”, he told the mediamen after
inaugurating a two-day international seminar on “Ammonia and Urea
Technology” here at a local hotel . He said that the FFC is now earning
profit and efforts are being made to further enhance its profitability
and productivity.
Lt.Gen (R) Munir Hafeez said that they are also participating in the
bidding of a privatize fertilizer company. In the first session of the
seminar three speakers including Jorgen Madsen an international expert
on Ammonia/ Urea Technology, S.Iftikhar A Kirmani a senior Staff
Engineer in Fauji fertilizer Company Limited and Giuseppe Merelli a
Technical Manager in the process department of Snamprogetti, Itlay
highlighered various aspects of subject.
Earlier speaking at the inaugural session of the seminar Lt Gen (R)
Munir Hafeed said that the developing countries are facing a challenge
to fulfill the food requirements of an ever-growing population through
industrialization to conserve the environment for judiciously using
natural resources which are usually limited. He said, “We have traversed
this path with a lot of success and today FFC is the largest urea
manufacturing and marketing company of Pakistan. Our market share in
Pakistan is now above 60 percent”.
Decidedly this has been possible by the untiring efforts and dedication
of our whole team throughout these years, he said adding, FFC has not
only excelled in areas of enhanced productivity but has been among the
leaders - in our part of the world - in spheres of safety, workmanship,
neat operation of the plants, maintenance, corporate management, and
others. He said FFC has earned many accolades and distinctions from
national and international organizations in this regard and plants are
frequently presented as model plants for the designers and technology
licensor for their prospective and regular clients.
It is befitting to acknowledge the steady and timely support that we
enjoy from M/s Haldor Topsoe and Snamprogetti. Today, he said, FFC also
serves as a source of first-rate training institution for various
national and international companies not only in the fertilizer sector
but also beyond it. Here, again thanks are due to M/s Stamicarbon of The
Netherlands who helped us put up a fine Technical Training Center that
laid the foundations for steady growth in this field.
Lt. Gen (retd) Munir Hafeez said FFC is forums like these which provide
an opportunity to the scientific community to share their experiences
and to learn from each other to make balanced progress while striving to
maintain the equilibrium in nature. He also thanked the international
