Pak to go all out for win against UAE: Salman
Bureau Report

LAHORE—Pakistan football coach Salman Sharida on Sunday said his team will go all out to beat UAE in the 14th Asian Cup at Abu Dhabi on November 15.
“We are all set to throw a strong challenge and I see a fair chance of my teams success”, said Pakistan football coach Salman Sharida, here on the eve of departure to Emirates.
He said Pakistan team beat UAE in AFC U19 Championship in 2000 at Teheran and be fully believes his senior team is fully capable of doing so to beat a strong opponent for the second time in PFF’s 59-year soccer history.
Salman is coach of the Pakistani team since October 2005, and PFF chief Faisal Saleh Hayat has asked him to continue his coaching assignments after gold medal triumph at Colombo last August.
Former national skipper Jaffar Khan, who used to play for Army and handed over the captain’s armband to Chaman’s Muhammad Essa on October 11 when Pakistan faced Jordan, is confident that his side has a chance to beat notable teams of Asia.
He said Pakistan stood at 162 in international ranking but after five successive defeats against Asian Powerhouses whose rankings are from 63 to 99 in FIFA the morale of Pakistani players is very high to win.
“We have noted our flaws and would not repeat them in the coming match. The gold in Colombo’s South Asian Games infused fighting spirit among our 13 players and it may cause trouble to rivals.”
“We forced several good chances in Islamabad ‘s tie against Oman as well as against Jordan at Lahore but our front-runners failed to utilise them with shabby shootings,” said Jaffar.
“We want to win heavily otherwise we would face shaky entrance into 14th Asian Cup’s finals in eight months time. UAE is currently behind Oman in Group-C and as far as goal difference is concerned, our average is below them”, said UAE team trainer Bruno Metsu.
Metsu expressed satisfaction on playing field of Abu Dhabi. He said Pakistan played stubbornly in the Karachi’s first leg and we failed to score against them in first session and got goals in closing stage.
“We will not take them lightly as they have a youthful team having spirited players who won the regional event at Colombo.
Their three deep defenders belongs to that triumphant team who can caused problems for us”, said Metsu.
