Poverty be wiped out for prosperity, peace: Jan Muhammad Jamali

ISLAMABAD—Deputy Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali has underlined the need to address the root causes of the terrorism through poverty alleviation and elimination of injustice.
He was addressing the inaugural session of the 7th Asian Association of Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) held at Tehran, says a message received here.
He said hunger, poverty and eradication of diseases were be the major areas to work on and that holding dialogues and consultations to resolve conflicts.
He informed that Pakistan was committed to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) which aimed at eradicating poverty that breeds many problems.
He added, under the authorization by the Manila Senior Advisory Council, an interim Secretariat of the Asian Anti Poverty Fund has already been set up in the National Assembly of Pakistan.
The Pakistan delegation include, besides the leader of the Pakistan Parliamentary delegation Senator Jan Muhammad Jamali, Deputy Chairman Senate and Senator Muhammad Abbas Komaili.
