Javed elected PBSA’s new Chief Commissioner

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Education Lt. Gen.(R) Javed Ashraf Qazi who was elected as a Chief Commissioner of Pakistan Boys Scout Association (PBSA), Islamabad on Sunday stressed the need for introducing fundamental measures in the association to make it more vibrant and effective for national prosperity and development.
The minister who was elected to post at a executive meeting council of the association for two-year term said that professionals should also be included in Scout to effectively promote it and generate resources for its sustainibility.
Chairing the Executive Council meeting of PBSA, he also announced a committee to review rules of bussiness of PBSA to make it more effective and prepare a report including and recommendations by December 15.
He also directed that rights of ownership of the association’s properties should not be given to someone, but on lease.
He was of the view that schools could play an effective role in promotion of scouting and physical activities like sporting which had been made as compulsory in the new scheme of studies would help produce healthy scouts for national prosperity and development.
He said, he would include the subject of scout into his agenda for next inter-provincial ministerial meeting to introduce it as compulsory activity in countrywide educational institutions.
He also said that strength of the Scouts should be increased through including adults and giving representation to more institutions to effectively cop with difficult times like natural calamities.
