Continuous rainfall turns weather nippy
Staff Report

ISLAMABAD—The federal capital on Saturday and Sunday received much awaited winter rainfall. After a long dry weather, the city dwellers take a sigh of relief in the form of blessing which the pleasant showers of rain brought to them. The intermittent showers continue to lash the green belts of capital city and adjoining Margalla hills for the past two days.
Dark and thick clouds covered the blue horizon which went a bit hazy and murky for the last many days. The heavy overnight downpour associated with thunder and lightening serve as prism to reflect the true colours of nature in the morning.
On Sunday, warm streaks of Sun peeped through the hovering specks of clouds but soon it goes hiding behind the cumulus clouds like a blushed maiden. Water ponds were visible in the green hilly areas of Margalla range while trees, herbs and shrubs lent a beautiful background to man made grand city.
‘Nature in its nakedness’ as John Keats will have certainly put it, provided glimpses of joy for the nature lovers.
Rainfall also settled the dust and according to health experts various viral respiratory diseases associated with it and dry weather will vanquish. Rainfall will also add to the volume of underground water resources and water reservoirs of the capital. According to Met Office, the rainfall has brought the temperature in the capital city to well below 12 Centigrade which is expected to fall further during night times.
The nippy weather forces residents of the city to bring out their woollies and warm clothes.
An abrupt surge in sale of warm apparel, blankets, and other winter protection garments has been witnessed as the city dwellers were seen thronging the markets for warm clothes.
