Energy needs increasing rapidly: PM

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said energy demand in Pakistan is rapidly increasing due to fast growing economy and investors are encouraged to invest in this sector.
He was talking to President and Chief Executive of PETRONAS oil company of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohammad Hassan Marican, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House Monday evening. The Prime Minister said Pakistan is a growing economy and its power demands are growing accordingly. Pakistan has invited and encourages foreign and local investors to invest in oil and gas sector, he added.
He said Pakistan is a country rich in natural resources that need to be exploited and Pakistan presents a vast potential in oil and gas exploration as well as petrochemicals industry. He said Pakistan is looking forward to attracting more prospecting and exploration companies to come and start their operation.—APP
