Missile firing as Aurakzai visits SWA

PESHAWAR—A spokesman of the Governor House Tuesday rebuffed the impression that miscreants fired two missiles at the jirga venue in Wana, South Waziristan Agency (SWA) being addressed by Governor NWFP Lt. Gen (retd) Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai.
When his attention was drawn towards the news being telecast by some private TV channels that the Governor has cut short his visit to SWA after firing of two missiles that landed near the jirga venue, the spokesman while terming the news baseless, he informed APP that though two missile landed in Wana but too far from the place of the jirga and the incident could not be described an attack on the Governor.
The spokesman who was present in the jirga, when asked to exactly narrate the whole episode said that as soon as the Governor was invited on the dais to address the jirga, two missiles fired from unknown location landed at a remote distance from the venue and denied the notion that it landed close to the place where the Governor was sitting.—APP
