Pak, Ukraine ink defence accords
KYIV—Pakistan and Ukraine have signed two agreements and a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to enhance defense cooperation between the two
countries.
According to the agreements and MoU between the two sides were inked
after meetings of Minister for Defense Rao Sukandar Iqbal with the
Ukrainian leadership.
Minister for Defense Rao Sikandar Iqbal, who is currently on official
trip to Ukraine, accompanied by the Parliamentary Sectary for Defense,
Major Tanvir Hussain Syed (retd) and other senior officials from the
Ministry of Defense, held important meetings with the President, the
Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the defense Minister of Ukraine
The first ever the high-level visit from Pakistan carried significance
for both side. The two sides held in-depth discussions in a congenial
and cordial atmosphere covering wide range of Pak-Ukraine bilateral
relations including the defense and security related matters.
Both sides agreed to further enhance their bilateral cooperation and
exchanged ideas for mutually beneficial scientific collaboration in
various spheres.
Besides, Ukrainian leadership was also explained Pakistan’s position on
various regional and international issues particularly the initiatives
taken by the President General Pervez Musharraf, from time-to-time, to
bring peace and harmony in the region. The Ukrainian side was also
briefed on situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s leading role in
ongoing war against terrorism and prevention of drug-trafficking.
The leadership of Ukraine expressed appreciation for the President
General Pervez Musharraf’s efforts in the war against terror and assured
