Pakistan National Council of Arts launches ‘Arts Club’

ISLAMABAD—The Pakistan National Council of Arts has launched another segment titled ‘the arts club’ for the promotion, projection and perpetuation of national cultural heritage and its exponent arts.
Director General and Chief Executive of the Council Naeem Tahir said, “The people of Pakistan are the sole custodian of the national cultural heritage and the creative endeavours of our painters, poets and artists revolve around their aspirations.”
With this perspective it was of utmost important, that opportunities should have been made available without any discrimination to our people for maximum participation in a variety of cultural events, he added, stated a press release on Monday.
He said, the PNCA has planned a mega package of multi-faceted arts and cultural events in the backdrop of its new architectural complex National Art Gallery, which is nearing completion in front of Parliament here.
The new complex of NAG would house numerous art galleries, exhibition halls, permanent display areas for classified exhibitions, a spacious theater hall equipped with the most latest sound and electronic gadgets and all allied facilities of international standard, he said.
He said, the Council is determined to utilize the new complex with maximum art exposures, through paintings, theater dance, music, puppet shows, dialogue, symposia and children arts etc.
It would also cover performances by the national arts group and the visiting cultural troupes from 52 friendly countries enjoying either cultural pacts or cultural exchange programmes with Pakistan, he added.
Besides, the Council has already made arrangements for imparting training to the budding as well as incumbent artistes in areas of fine arts, the DG said.
The newly revitalized drama department has planned to conduct playwriting programme and an international conference on theatrical arts soon, he informed.
Only a registration to the art club would be required to get NAG membership, he said.
For participation in the forthcoming extravaganza of Syrian dance and music show on November 8 at Islamabad club, the membership process would be regularized through the arts club, he added.
The 15-member Syrian cultural troupe called ZERYAB would present fabulous dances with indigenous rituals, ceremonies, hymns and music of ancient time civilization of their country.
