Nawaz fears replication of Bajaur airstrike
MULTAN—PML-N Leader and exiled Former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif
lambasting the Generals for putting the country under jeopardy in his
reaction to the Bajaur bombing said that it is not unexpected of
President to bomb other area sof Pakistan as well.
In his telephone address to PML-N convention in Multan Sunday night Mian
Nawaz Sharif said the people should rise up against the generals for
saving the country.
People gained independence in 1947 from the Britishers now is the time
for independence from the generals. On this occasion notable leadership
of PML-N including Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Memoona Hashmi and others were
also present.
The former PM said that the overall situation is highly poor and the
generals are responsible for it. He maintained that whatever development
that took place in the country happened during the democratic period.
He criticized President General Pervez Musharraf for the bombing in
Bajaur and for killing Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. He said that the people
should remember and should remind that it was the democratic period when
90,000 pows were brought back. Now in the military era our water is
being cut off and India is building dams.
He said that I was repeatedly telephoned from US not to test nukes but a
gave priority to the national interest whereas Musharraf surrendered on
a single call of the Bush secretary and put the national interest at
stake. Today what is happening to the country is unbearable people are
committing suicides and the rulers are ‘playing the flute’. The culture
of the country is getting ruined. Obscenity and vulgarity rules PTV.
The present rulers have made the masses slave to others, and people
should remember that enslaved nations never develop. They are firing at
the masses while putting their guns down in front of the enemy. They
trample the constitution and the law and overwhelm Islamabad(government)
with impunity. He said Musharraf should be taken to a court of law for
killing of innocent masses and trampling the constitution.
The current rulers should give statistical evidence of their development
work to the masses so that the people get to know the true picture. He
accused the rulers of embezzling the aids for the earthquake victims
adding that the generals were building their estate with the money.
“They are building bungalows worth Rs 500 million while on the other
hand poor don’t have even camps to live.”
He said people should see that today billions are being spent at the
President House, PM House and the GHQ and all this is done by embezzling
in the name of security, and public knows that Javed Hashmi was
imprisoned for unveiling the corruption of the Generals.
Memoona Hashmi in her address vowed to fight against the dictatorship
adding that the struggle for democracy will continue and all
difficulties in the way will be borne. On the occasion other PML-N too
addressed the gathering.—Online |
