Opp united on one-point agenda, says Qazi
LAHORE—Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that
entire opposition is unanimous on one point agenda of getting rid from
the autocratic rule of General Pervez Musharraf. This objective can be
achieved only through a full-fledge drive against General Pervez
Musharraf. Decision about the matters related to participation of MMA in
the general elections is the prerogative of the alliance’s supreme
council and will be taken at appropriate time.
He expressed these views while addressing central council ( shoora) of
Jamaat-e-Islami here at Mansoorah on Saturday. The meeting will continue
for three days. Heated debate and vital decisions about the future line
of action of the party are expected during the shoora which is presided
by Qazi Hussain Ahmad and attended by members of the central council
from across Pakistan.
In his opening address the Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad said
that situation is fully ripe to launch anti-government as the government
has failed to protect the life of its subjects from foreign aggression.
They have lost the mandate to rule, he added. Qazi Hussain Ahmad urged
the people to come on streets against the rulers who connive with
foreign forces for the cold-blooded murder of their fellow beings. He
said General Pervez Musharraf is promoting the US agenda under the guise
of enlightened moderation and chanting “Pakistan first” selfish slogans.
He said the rulers who are impressed from the West and being funded by
the foreign NGOs are secularizing our society. The people of Pakistan
will not allow secularization of their society. Qazi Hussain Ahmad
opined that the anti-government drive will permanently contain the
military dictatorship in Pakistan.
All the decisions, he said, are taken in the meetings of corps
commanders which are latter endorsed by using the rubber stamp of
parliament. This is sheer contempt of the public opinion. Qazi Hussain
Ahmad said committed workers are an asset of the movement and no world
power can defeat their spirit.
Replying reporters’ questions during the prayer break of shoora Qazi
Hussain Ahmad said the statement of foreign minister reflect the
defeated mentality of the rulers who instead of condemning the
outrageous act of terror on the Pakistani soil are harping the tone of
US masters.
Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has condoled the sad demise
former Mayor Karachi Abdus Sattar Afghani and termed it a great loss for
the cause of Islam and people of Karachi to whom the deceased
relentlessly served during his days of Mayorship.
Paying rich tributes to late Abdus Sattar Afghani the JI leader said a
glowing chapter of service to Islam and humanity has been closed with
the death of Afghani Sahib. Despite his multiple years of service as
mayor of the largest metropolis of Pakistan late Abdus Sattar Afghani
lived a simple life which is worth following for the contemporary
politicians. The JI leader prayed to Allah Almighty to shower mercy on
his soul, widen his place of rest and grant him Paradise. Qazi Hussain
Ahmed will lead the funeral prayer of former Mayor of Karachi and MMA
MNA, Abdul Sattar Afghani, who passed away here after a brief illness .
The funeral prayers will be held at Kukri Ground, Lyari today (Sunday)
at 10:00am, which will also be attend by leaders of other political
parties including MMA and JI. He would be laid to rest at Mewa Shah
graveyard.
Abdul Sattar Afghani was died here at Agha Khan Hospital on late
Saturday night following brief illness of liver infection. He was
