NA body takes note of theft from national museum

ISLAMABAD—A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on culture, sports and youth affairs was held under the chairmanship of Ria Azizullah Khan at the parliament here on Saturday.
The committee was briefed by the secretary Ministry of culture, sports and youth affairs about the National Museum at Karachi regarding lack of facilities to protect the historical items. The committee took serious note of the attack of termite on Quranic gallery in 2003 and 2005 in the National Museum Karachi. The committee directed the Ministry that sufficient funds may be allocated for the look after of the museum. NA standing committee directed the Ministry to submit a report of theft of precious items from different museums to the committee.
The secretary ministry of culture, sports and youth affairs informed the committee that plan of Islamabad museum near Shakarparian was also under process.—Agencies
