Pakistan elected to Montreal Protocol’s bureau
NEW DELHI—Pakistan was elected Vice President of the Bureau of Executive
Committee of the member-states of Montreal Protocol, on Friday.
The election came at the five-day conference on the protection of
environment here. Minister for the Environment Makhdoom Faisal Saleh
Hayat, who represented Pakistan at the conference, told this agency that
the decision, taken at an important world forum, is a great honour for
Pakistan. He said it also reflects the world community’s confidence on
Pakistan vision towards environmental protection as well as its
commitment to implement it in letter and spirit. The Minister said the
Ozone Secretariat has accepted the plan of action submitted by Pakistan
and ranked our country among those good standing countries which are
seriously committed to switch over from Ozone Depleting Substances to
Ozone friendly technology for running of their industries.—Online |
