Prince Charles, Kamila visit village in Skardu

SKARDU—British Prince Charles and Kamila Parker here Friday visited organic village Nangsoq and saw various traditional old houses.
They asked various questions about the living of the people and saw the villagers working in their fields, particularly the women artisans making a variety articles. The royal couple described the local people very hardworking and stressed upon them to continue their old traditions to protect their culture. Prince Charles described the local traditional foods very tasty. He was briefed about Balti culture, history, tradition and custom. Elite of the village Haji Hasan Lalo thanked Prince Charles for visiting village Nangsoq and presented him traditional Balti gifts and a decorated traditional Balti cap worn by women to Kamila Parker. Prince Charles and Kamila Parker were given warm welcome at Nangsoq helipad and a warm send off when they left Nangsoq for Islamabad. Earlier, Prince Charles and Kamila Parker were also accorded a warm welcome at Skardu airport, led by Chief Secretary and police chief of Northern Areas.—APP
