2 hurt in mysterious Pindi blast

RAWALPINDI—Two persons were injured in a mysterious explosion in a local hotel situated at Faizabad junction of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad while high level officer of the law enforcement agencies claimed that the blast occurred due to leakage of gas.
Soon after the blast, District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Aziz, Superintended Police (SP) Investigation Dr. Azam, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Sadiqabad Syed Hasib Shah, DSP Investigation Rana Shahid, SP City Sardar Maqsood and other high level officers of law enforcement agencies reached on the spot and started investigation to ascertain the cause of explosion.
It is merit mentioning that the media men were not allowed to enter in a hotel where the blast occurred. Two people were injured on Friday mooning at 10:30 am when an explosion occurred in Room No 103 of three-storey building hotel due to gas leakage, District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Aziz told Online.
He said Commander Fazal Elahi of Civil Bomb Disposal Squad also confirmed that the blast occurred due to gas leakage.
The injured including Abdul Sattar (45) and Maqsood Ahmad (46) belonging to southern Punjab were living in the hotel since last night rushed to Rawalpindi General Hospital, where they were shifted to Burn unit of Wah Cant hospital, DPO said. DPO Saud Aziz further said that the explosion was so powerful that it severely injured two persons on spot besides smashing windowpane of nearby rooms of hotel, he added. The deafening boom was heard within area of several kilometers. Meanwhile, Hotel Manager Babar Abbasi disclosed that there is no supply of gas in the room No 103 where the blast occurred adding that students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) University were living in a hotel since last one year.—Online
