Anti-Dengue virus campaign yielding positive results: Nasir

ISLAMABAD—A countrywide campaign against Dengue virus has been launched
in collaboration with the local governments and the situation is well
under control; said federal health minister Muhammad Nasir Khan.
Speaking at a seminar held at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences
(Pims), here Friday, the health minister said that the ongoing campaign
had yielded positive outcome throughout the country. He said the local
governments had been directed to dispose of dumps of garbage within two
weeks.
Nasir Khan said the government had been facing different challenges in
the field of health for the last one and a half years. He, however; said
that the government had met the challenges successfully by taking timely
steps.
The federal minister said that the government had been monitoring
situation emerged after the outbreak of Dengue fever and steps were
being taken to control it. Health minister said that 2569 cases of
Dengue virus affected people have so far been reported across the
country and 800 have been proved positive.
The World Health Organization (WHO) representative, Muhammad Halif Bile
on the occasion said that currently 102 countries people were affected
from Dengue virus. |
