Peace comes through strength: President
ISLAMABAD—President general Pervez Musharraf has reiterated Pakistan
will maintain its minimum credible deterrence adding country’s defensive
deterrence strategy is fully operational on this count. “Pakistan will
maintain its minimum credible deterrence. Our defensive deterrence
strategy is fully operational in this regard and is credible than ever
before. We will continue the process of bringing improvement in it”, he
said this while addressing the officers and jawans from Sialkot and
Gujranwala Garrisons at the Garrison auditorium.
President held that professional standard and capability of armed forces
is excellent . “ We can deal with internal and external threats in
better way by upgrading the vigilance, training and operational
preparedness. In the perspective of complex security environment of the
region it is imperative that professional preparedness and training of
armed forces be improved enormously , he stressed.
President also highlighted the geo political scenario of the region on
the occasion and informed the armed forces with reference to impending
challenges and the mode of preparations to face these challenges.
President underscored Pakistan is a peace loving country and it has no
aggressive designs against any one. Our quest for peace is not our
weakness. Peace comes through strength and we are becoming stable on
defence and economic fronts.
He went on to say that high tech weaponry is being inducted in the three
services in conventional field to enhance their fighting punch. Several
programs are being implemented in this connection and the government is
providing resources in this regard.
“We will have to forge unity and harmony in our ranks to combat the
challenges of terrorism and extremism”, he urged. Armed forces have
played pivotal role in stamping out menace of terrorism.
He held out assurance that government would provide all resources to
armed forces. Earlier, the president attended the inaugural session of
the Corps war game at the Gujranwala Corps headquarters.
The War Game code named “RACHNA 06 is aimed at evaluating the efficacy
of operational plans of the Corps under the likely battlefield
environment. Syndicates representing opposing forces presented their
analysis of environment hypothesis and response options. RACHA 06 would
continue for a week. The president was received by the Corps commander
Lt Gen Anis Ahmad Abbasi upon his arrival at the Corps headquarters.
President General Pervez Musharraf has witnessed war games by Pakistan
army at Corps headquarters Gujranwala Wednesday. Corps commander
Gujranwala and other senior military officers were also present on the
occasion.
President lauded the professional preparedness and combat capabilities
of Pakistan Army. He also appreciated war games standard. President
stressed that the armed forces should improve their standard with
quality training in peace time.
Government is providing all resources for the development of armed
forces besides arming them with modern equipment and weaponry, he held.
President was briefed on the objectives of the war games and other
activities of the corps headquarters on the occasion.—Agencies |
