PCB forms policy to ensure players participation in domestic matches

LAHORE—Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a policy under which all the members of the national cricket team will be playing in the domestic matches ahead of the home series against West Indies.
“ We have made it mandatory for all the players to ensure their participation in Patrons Trophy matches and other domestic tournaments when they have no commitment with the national team at home or abroad “,Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board, Dr Naseem Ashraf told reporters at a news conference here on Wednesday.
He said Inzamam ul Haq will be representing Sheikhupura in a match of Patrons Trophy which is commencing soon and so will be doing the other players of the team while taking part in the Trophy.
“ We have formed a policy in this regard that each player must play at least 3 to 4 matches in year in the domestic tournament which will help them keeping in form and fitness besides making the domestic tournaments competitive “,he asserted.
He said the team members after taking part in a 4-day match will be joining a short duration camp here at Lahore for giving final touches to team’s preparations for the series against West Indies.
“ Initially we will be releasing the names of 20 players from which the final team will be selected “, he said. “
Dr Naseem Ashraf said, the draft of PCB constitution along with input, views and suggestions from quarters has been sent to its Patron,President Pervez Musharraf for its final approval.
Answering a question, he said, PCB has sent a 12-page compliant against umpire Darrell Hair to International Cricket Council and hopefully this item will be put on the agenda of ICC meeting taking place shortly in India.
