By Ali Imran
ISLAMABAD—Cuba attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan
and wants to consolidate these relations.
These views were expressed by the Cuban ambassador to Pakistan, Gustavo
Machin Gomez while addressing a press conference in a local hotel here
Wednesday.
Cuban ambassador said that both the countries have diplomatic relations
for the last six months and we want to improve these relations in all
fields, he added.
The ambassador on the occasion has urged Pakistan and the international
community to play its role to put an end to its financial, commercial
and economic blockade imposed by the United States for the last 47 years
and support the draft resolution to be submitted on November 8th to UN
General Assembly.
He said that 118 countries in recently concluded Havana Conference
demanded to end American blockade and we are hopeful that the
international community would help the resolution titled: Need to put an
end to the financial, commercial and economic blockage imposed by the
Untied States against Cuba”.
Gustavo Machin Gomez said that the direct damage caused to the Cuban
people due to the blockade application is over 86 billion and US during
the last year has increased at unprecedented levels, the aggressiveness
and hostility against Cuba, he added.
Terming American occupation on Guantanamo Bay illegal, the ambassador
said that the US had occupied Guantanamo Bay in 1982 and Cuban people
want end to US occupation on its territory. |
