Dengue Fever contained, says Health Minister

ISLAMABAD—Federal Health Minister, Naseer Ahmed Khan has said that the epidemic of Dengue Fever is under control and the government with the collaboration of the World Bank is working effectively for the elimination of this virus.
Talking to reporters while enquiring patients of Dengue Fever at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here Tuesday, the Health Minister said that the government has constituted special teams for the elimination of Dengue Virus, adding that he would visit all the four provincial capitals to review the situation.
The Health Minister who also reviewed the arrangements by the Hospital Administration has directed Provincial and Districts governments to take appropriate measures to dump garbage and other waste materials and sprinkle anti-mosquito spray.
Executive Director of PIMS, Dr Fazal Hadi while giving briefing the Health Minister said that at present 31 patients have admitted in the hospital, adding that their blood samples have been sent to laborites for testing.
The Health Minister said that the mosquitoes living in strangled water and heaps of garbage are spreading Dengue Fever.
Commenting on the availability of funds to deal with the epidemic, the Minister said that the government has enough resources to deal with the fever.
Answering a question, the Health Minister said that the National Institute of Health was directed to formulate a complete record related to Dengue Fever patients across the country. No leniency would be tolerated regarding the preventive measure of disease and treatment of patients, he added.
