Govt committed for harnessing artists’ potential, says Durrani

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Information and Broadcasting,Muhammad Ali Durrani Tuesday, expressing present government’s strong resolve for admiration and regard of artists said their potential and creative abilities are commendable.
There is no shortage of creative and potential persons in the country but the need is to provide them ample opportunities and harness their competence, he said while inaugurating a 2-day General Manager Conference of Pakistan Television. Secretary Information Shahid Rafi, Managing Director PTV, Ashraf Azeem, PTV General Managers and other officers of the channel were present on the occasion. Senator Durrani said there is no possibilities of denying potential of PTV artists and the present government under the able leadership of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is providing them opportunities to perform well and upto the mark. Terming the creativity as sensitive and difficult task, he said the creative artisit is a gift of nature who never retires.
Senator Durrani said to face the modern day challenges effectively; the government has decided to start separate current affairs and entertainment channels. This decision would go a long way in improving the functioning of these channels and enabling their staff to concentrate and enhance their professional capabilities in this competitive environment.
Appreciating the performance of PTV, he said it has emerged as cultural symbol not only in the country but also in the entire region and added the nations which promotes their culture can only make progress.
“Efforts are also on to make the PTV a leading hub on the front of media and that all the channels could rely on each others and work in a better environment,” he added. Highlighting the active role of PTV in the society, he said it is a national requirement, and added steps are being taken to make the channel in conformity with the national values and cultural norms and help promote healthy and patriotic passion towards the youth.
Managing Director PTV highlighted the role of the channel in the current scenario and said efforts are underway to maintain the already established sound and healthy image of the channel.He commended the PTV staff for effectively coping with the multi dimensional challenges the organization is faced with.
