Auditor General initiates audit into NTC corruption scandal

ISLAMABAD—Yunus Khan, Auditor
General of Pakistan after the surfacing of billions of rupees corruption
scandal in NTC has initiated special audit of the institution's
accounts.
Yunus Khan on Monday briefed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that a
special audit has been initiated in the accounts of NTC after reports of
corruption. He told that immediate notice has been taken. A special team
has been sent that is scrutinizing the whole record. The corruption that
is being pointed out in a magazine amounts to nothing (in front of what
has actually happened).
A lot of money has been embezzled. Chairman, Public Accounts Committee
(PAC) told that the committee is reviewing the issue separately. Qurban
Ali Shah reading from a report said former chairman NTC Rear Admiral
Shahid Farooq has done corruption amounting to billions of rupees now he
himself has retired. Now NTC has requested the State Bank for
collection. A lot of money was embezzled through the calls via
international gateway. It cost losses of billions of rupees to the
national exchequer. |
