Senate Delegation To Visit Canada from 16th

Islamabad—S 5-member delegation of the Senate of Pakistan headed by Chairman Senate, Mr.Mohammedmian Soomro will pay a five day official visit to Canada from October 16, 2006.
The invitation to Chairman Senate to visit Canada at the head of a Parliamentary delegation was extended by the Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Honourable Noel A. Kinsella, Senator.
During its stay in Canada, the delegation will hold meetings with a cross section of the Canadian government, Parliamentarians and members of the civil society. Its engagements include a meeting with the Speaker of the Senate of Canada, witnessing proceedings at the House of Commons, undertaking a guided tour of the Parliament buildings, holding meetings with Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Foreign Affairs, Senator Mr. Hugh Segal; Minister for Public Safety Mr. Stockwell Day; Minister for Natural Resources Mr.Gary Lunn, besides meetings with the Speaker of the House of Commons, Honourable Mr. Peter Milliken, MP and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Honourable Mr.Micheal A. Brown. The Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Honourable Noel A. Kinsella will also host a reception in honour of the delegation.
It is expected that the visit of the delegation will give a big boost to the Pak-Canadian Parliamentary cooperation and pave the way for exchange of Parliamentary delegations between the two countries. The Senate delegation will have an important opportunity to brief their Canadian hosts on issues ranging from functioning of the Parliament in Pakistan to the Country's role in the global war on terror and thus could help promote better understanding of each other's point of view.
The delegation included Senator Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar Bhinder, Senator Ahmed Ali, Senator Engr. Rashid Ahmed Khan and Senator Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai.
