No elections without BB: PPPP
Islamabad—"A military dictator has no right to try to change the
political landscape of Pakistan." This was said in a statement by Naheed
Khan, MNA, the Political Secretary to the former Prime Minister and
Chairperson Pakistan Peoples Party, Benazir Bhutto here Thursday, in a
reaction to General Musharraf's contention that Benazir Bhutto would not
be allowed to contest the next general elections.
Naheed Khan said that no elections can be free, fair and impartial
without the participation of the most popular leader of Pakistan,
Benazir Bhutto. In the last general elections, the PPP had secured the
highest number of the votes which is a clear proof of the popularity of
the party led by Benazir Bhutto and no military dictator can ever
succeed to stop people from bringing the PPP back in the government and
Benazir Bhutto as prime minister the third time, Naheed Khan said.
The political secretary of the Chairperson PPP said that another
dictator General Ziaul Haq had also tried to oust the PPP from politics
but the people of Pakistan elected the PPP in government despitetorture,
lashes and prosecutions meted out to the workers for eleven long years.
Now the people of Pakistan would not allow General Musharrafto rule this
country any more. People of Pakistan believe in democracy, justice and
rule of law whereas General Musharraf violates every principle and
ethics taught to the nation by the founder of the nation,Quaid-e-Azam.
Naheed Khan said that the PPP would not allow General Musharraf to
dictate his terms for the elections scheduled for 2007.
Naheed Khan asked the Chief Election Commissioner to take serious note
of the interference by an army Chief into politics. She said that the
PPP is demanding free, fair and impartial elections under a consensus
government in which all the political parties and individuals are
allowed to take part.—Agencies |
