US think tank holds meeting in Beijing
BEIJING—The Center for
Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a major think tank in the
United States, held its international councilors meeting in Beijing on
Thursday.
The theme of the meeting is "focus on China." Topics include, the rapid
and continuous development of China and Sino-U.S. relations, China's
social trends and demographic challenges, China's strategy for growth
through science, technology, and education, China's business
environment: challenges and opportunities, the Sino-U.S. relationship
and China's Policies toward the United States., prospects for the
Sino-U.S. trade relations.
Chinese officials, experts such as Yang Jiechi, Chinese vice foreign
minister, Liu Jingmin, executive vice-president of the Beijing Olympic
Organizing Committee, and Yang Wenchang, president of Chinese People's
Institute of Foreign Affairs, made speeches on the above topics.
The international councilors also discussed the topics with them.
Henry Kissinger, chairman of the CSIS and former U.S. Secretary of State
, and more than 30 international councilors attended the meeting.
