Hurriyat leaders not allowed to meet Afzal Guru

NEW DELHI—Leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) are not given permission to meet Kashmiri youth Muhammad Afzal Guru detained in Tahar Jail.
A delegation of APHC reached Tahar Jail Wednesday to meet Afzal Guru and other imprisoned Kashmiri leaders but not allowed by Jail’s officials and have the stand that the government has issued strict orders in this regard.
Besides Afzal Guru, former chairman of APHC, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Human Rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Ontoo are also detained in Tahar Jail.Reacted on the refusal by the Indian officials, Senior Leader of APHC, Zafar Akbar Butt said that by adopting such cruel tactics, India cannot succeed to suppress self-determination movement of Kashmir.
Zafar Akbar Butt while talking to Online on telephone said that the decision of Indian Supreme Court to give death sentence to Afzal Guru without any solid proof is against the basic principles of justice and judiciary. The protest of Kashmiri people against the death sentence of Afzal Guru would continue, he added.
Kashmiri Leader has categorically stated that India in the past hanged Maqbool Butt but failed to oppress the voice of Kashmiri people and now another Kashmiri youth is unjustly implicated in 2001 attack on India’s Parliament.
Expressing his severe condemnation over the killing of a Kashmiri youth Irshad Ali by Delhi Police, Zafar Akbar Butt has urged Indian government that such brutalities can jeopardize the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between Pakistan and India.
Saleem Gillani, Farooq Ahmad, Hafeez Ullah, Muhammad Yousaf and Manzoor Ahmad were also included in the delegation.—Agencies
