HEC Announces PhD, Split-Site & Post Doctoral Scholarship

ISLAMABAD—The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited applications from Pakistani / AJK nationals, meeting eligibility criteria, for award of the scholarships for PhD, Split-Site Doctoral Scholarship Program and Post Doctoral Fellowships, commencing in the United Kingdom in 2007. All awards will be made on the basis of the academic record, potential of the candidate, development impact of work proposed in Pakistan and the quality of the research proposal.
The applicants for Post Doctoral Fellowships Programme should possess a doctorate degree awarded before 01-10-2002. Applicants from the field of medicine and dentistry should have been appointed to a consultant or equivalent post before 01-10-2002, have at least two years experience as a staff member of the nominating university in their home country and continue to be employed by them and be available to join the scholarship programme in United Kingdom by 1st October, 2007.
Awards, if tenable at any approved UK University or Higher Education institution for skill updating research and academic collaboration, etc, for a fixed period six month only or 6 months clinical training in medicine or dentistry. General Medical Council UK currently required applicants for limited registration to score a minimum of 7.0 in all four parts of the academic IELTS test. The Applicant should be nominated by their VCs (or equivalent) / their Executive heads of employing institutions, which they will join back after completion of studies.
Applicants for PhD Scholarship programme should meet the minimum standards such as they should not have obtained below 50% marks in their entire academic career (e.g SSC, HSC, BA/BSc, Masters etc), should have obtained at least 60% or above marks in Masters (e.g. MA/MSc or other 16 years of Masters Education) or in Professional degrees e.g. BE/BSc Engineering, MBBS, BDS, LLB, MBA or equivalent. Applicants having completed M. Phil will be preferred.
The applicants of 12-36 months Doctoral Research should also be nominated by their VCs (or equivalent) / their Executive heads of employing institutions, which they will join on their return after completion of studies. Applicants with Business, Management, Economics and other related fields should note that number of universities require GMAT or GRE score, for admission.
