Pak-Mexico Joint Commission meeting on trade, investment today

ISLAMABAD—The first ever meeting of the Pakistan-Mexico Joint Commission
on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation will be held in Mexico
City today (Thursday).
The Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar will lead
Inter-Ministerial delegation comprising officials of Ministries of
Agriculture, commerce and foreign Affairs as well as Economic Affairs
Division and the board of investment. While Angel Vilalobos Rodrigex
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy would lead Mexican side.
During her visit to Mexico Minister of state Hina Rabbani Khar is also
scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with a broad array of stakeholders.
She would be calling on the Secretary for economy Sergio Garia Zapada
and have commerce and investors.
The joint commission meeting has a wised-ranging agenda-including
exchange of views on the economic outlook of both countries joint
evaluation of economic, trade and investment opportunities between
Pakistan and Mexico, review of the status of various agreements under
consideration and consideration, proposals for deeper collaboration in
the fields of trade, industry, investment, services and private sector
participation.
The two sides would also discuss the issue of ban on the export of
Pakistani rice to Mexico with a view to finding an early resolution. The
Joint Commission meeting is expected to impart greater depth and
substance to the overall economic relationship between Pakistan and
Mexico.
The MOS would also have broad interaction with the Mexican media
including interviews with TV Channels and newspapers.
Earlier, the agreement to establish the Pakistan-Mexico Joint Commission
was signed between the two counties during the visit of President
General Pervez Musharraf to Mexico on 2-3 December 2004. |
