'Apprehensions of Mangla Dam affectees to be removed'

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Mangla Dam and Industries in the AJK Legislative Assembly, Ch. Muhammad Yousaf called on Maj. (retd) Tahir Iqbal, Minister for Kashmir Affairs on Wednesday and discussed with him delay in providing the package announced for the Mangla dam affected people and their apprehensions against Wapda.
Ch. Yousaf said that Wapda had so far not initiated development work on Dhan Gali bill, which was scheduled to be completed this year. Besides, development work on Dadyal and Sakh had not been launched that have caused a wave of concern among the Mangla dam affectees, which should be addressed.
Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Tahir Iqbal assured Ch. Yousaf that notice of delay of the package to Mangla dam affected people had been taken. "The package will be implemented hundred in letters and spirit and the apprehensions of the affectees will be removed," he added.
He said that the committee meeting on package of Mangla dam affectees would be held after Eid in Mirpur which would be attended by chairman Wapda and members of the committee. The committee would be briefed on the affectees' package, low pace of development work and apprehensions of the affected people.
