IGP for curtailing street crimes

RAWALPINDI—The Inspector General of Police Punjab Zia-ul-Hassan Khan has directed officers to take effective measures to curb incidents of street and other heinous crimes.
He issued these directions while chairing a special meeting to review in detail the law and order situation in the city and took a several important decisions in this regard.
Addressing the meeting Zia-ul-Hassan said that police have great responsibility of maintaining law and order, besides measuring protection to the lives and property of the masses.
Regarding current wave of crimes in the city, the IGP directed the police officers to accept this challenge with full responsibility and bring forth all their professionals skills to complete the task of eliminating crime from the society.
He further said that Chief Minister has extended immense facilities to the Police Department to bring it at par with modern policing under which police is being provided with latest weapons and equipment.
The IGP also directed for effective monitoring of performance of the Muhafiz Force and took strict action against those policemen committing excesses of the citizens.
He asked all divisional SPs to review service record of the Muhafiz Force.
It was decided that Punjab Police would launch a massive crackdown to control street crimes in an effective manner.
Zia-ul-Hassan also directed for improving the patrolling of Rescue-15 and Muhafiz Squads, while all senior police officers themselves patrol in their respective areas to ensure effective monitoring of police force and continue with elimination of criminals on war-footing.
He made compulsory for all divisional SPs to maintain record of offenders of their respective areas besides keeping a strict eye on their activities so that criminals network could be eliminated to ensure protection to masses lives and property.
He asked the police officers to improve the police image among masses through their positive thinking and better attitude. —Agencies
