CDA takes Precautionary measures against spread of Dengue Fever

ISLAMABAD—Following the instructions of Chairman Capital Development
Authority Kamran Lashari, Directorate of Health Services has taken
certain precautionary measures against any possible danger spread of
Dengue Fever.
The Dengue Fever "Break Bone Fever" has been spread in the neighbour
country India at large and some cases of this disease has also been
reported in Karachi.
The virus of this disease is spread by Mosquito known as "Aedes Aegypti"
which are abundant in the rainy season. This virus is of four types and
the reservoir of infection is both in man and mosquito.
The transmission of virus is Man- Mosquito-Man and the disease
characterized by high grade fever, headache and severe plan in joints.
Sometimes this disease can be converted to Hemorrhagic one. The
incubation period of the disease is three to ten days.
In this connection a meeting was held in the Directorate of Health
Services which was presided over by Dr Saeed Ahmad Director Health
Services to discuss the action plan against spread of virus of subject
disease.
Dr Muhammad Arshad Deputy Director Dr Khudeja-tu-Kubra Health Officer Dr
Muhammad Azhar economist and Malaria Inspector participated the
proceedings.
According to action plan the Islamabad City has been divided fourteen
different zones and it was decided that special spray will be carried in
the weekly bazaar, thirteen Katchi Abadies and slum areas of the Federal
Capital.
This was also decided to put Phenathile medicine in the 35 big Nullahs
and 22 Tributaries to arrest the mosquitoes.
The Director Services has also requested to residents of the Capital
City, especially in the slum areas to fill the depressed areas of the
streets and their vicinity so that the rainy water should not be
accumulated and clean the drains regularly.
Furthermore while sleeping outside they must use Mosquito Net and use
anti-malaria tablets once in a week as precautionary steps.
He also directed to donate at least forty Mosquito Nets to the poor and
deserving ones by the Directorate of Health Services. |
