Pak attaches great imp to its ties with Germany: Sherpao

ISLAMABAD—Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relationship with Germany.
The relations between the two countries remained cordial and have continued to grow over the years, he observed this in his meeting with German delegation led by Dr Jorg Ziaercke, German Chief of the federal criminal police at ministry of interior here on Monday.
The minister for interior said that leaders of both the countries have been visiting each other country regularly. The visit of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz from July 10-13 2005 to Germany has further strengthen the ties between both the countries.
He said that yesterday, we observed the first anniversary of devastating earthquake. "we are extremely thankful for the kind of gesture and timely help of the German government and people fo Germany for helping us in hour of need.
He said we are deeply grieved over the sad killing of the two journalists in Afghanistan. A peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan is in Pakistan's interest. He said that we have over 80,000 security personnel on the border and the tribal areas and we maintain high vigilance on the border with Afghanistan. He said that German Federal Criminal Police (BKA) is helping FIA to establish a Crime Scene Unit in Pakistan.
He said that Germany has been providing technical and financial assistance to Pakistan in the fields of basic health, education and renewable energy efficiency. Flow of investment from Germany is increasing.
He said that there is lot of scope of bilateral cooperation in the fields of counter terrorism and organized crimes between the two countries.
Dr Jorg Ziercke, German Chief of Federal Criminal Police appreciated Pakistan's leading role in the war against terrorism and hoped the cooperation in different fields between the two countries will be enhanced.
