PEMRA announces issuance of provisional broadcasting licenses

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has decided to issue provisional broadcasting licenses to all the eligible applicants without any delay.
The decision was taken here in a meeting on Monday at the PEMRA Headquarters. The authority reviewed the different measures taken regarding the implementation of the rules concerning electronic media and expressed its satisfaction over the progress made.
It was decided at the PEMRA meeting that bids will again be floated regarding the already delayed sale of the FM Radio Station. The meeting endorsed the fact that the radio licenses have been cancelled after a formal appeal.
PEMRA also approved of issuing full time Food Channel licenses from Pakistan. Food Channel is the first channel established in Asia that will help provide relevant information to the domestic housewives regarding food and health.
Iftikhar Rashid, Chairman PEMRA, Shahid Humayun, Executive Member, Shahid Rafi, Secretary Interior, Kamal Shah, Samar Neelab, Dr Seemi Naghmana, Omar Aziz and Asad Jahangir participated in the meeting.
