ITP official arrests fleeing miscreant

ISLAMABAD—An Inspector of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) onMonday arrested a man who was trying to escape after injuring a citizen in indiscriminate firing here at H-8 sector.
Inspector Mehr Muhammad Yar was on patrolling duty to ensure smooth flow of traffic in H-8 sector when he heard gun fire and rushed to the scene.
On seeing police vehicle, the criminal tried to flee but the ITP official succeeded in overpowering him after a brief chase. The criminal identified as Atif Khan is a student who was firing on his rival group. A passer-by received bullet injuries during firing and was admitted in hospital.
The criminal was handed over to the I-9 police for further investigation, said a police spokesman.
SSP (Traffic) Sultan Azam Temuri has appreciated the performance of Inspector Mer Muhammad Yar and announced cash award and commendation certificate for his courageous performance.
" Our aim is to provide protection to the citizens by fulfilling our duties in a responsible way," the SSP added.
