Homage paid to Margalla tower victims

ISLAMABAD: The victims of Margalla Tower with their families assembled at the site here Sunday to remember those who lost their lives and sustained injuries caused by the last October earthquake.A moment of silence and prayer was observed in the morning.The survivors of the Tower also held a candle light-vigil on Saturday at the site of the collapsed blocks of the building.Minister o f State for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem also attended the ceremony as a chief guest and paid homage to those who lost their lives, sustained injuries and lost family members, their homes and livelihoods due to the earthquake.He said number of innocent people including children died in the wake of the natural calamity, adding, "we share our grief and sorrow with the affected people".
The incident draw the attention of the whole world towards the worst ever catastrophe in the Pakistan's history that left over 73,000 people dead and reduced to rubble 600,000 housing units from Balakot to Muzaffarabad. Meanwhile, a CDA official told APP, the government on the directive of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, has constituted a four-member committee to resolve the issue of compensation to the victims of the Margalla tower.
