FIFA development manager reaches Pakistan
LAHORE—FIFA's Development Manager in Asia and Oceania, David Borja
reached here Thursday to discuss various matters relating to goal
project-II with high ups of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
He along with FIFA's goal project development officer Manilal Fernando
will be having important meetings with the PFF President, Syed Faisal
Saleh Hayat and Secretary Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi, said a spokesman
of the PFF. " These meetings will take place tomorrow, Friday, in
Islamabad ",he added.
The purpose of visit of David and Manilal is to discuss and finalization
of the Goal Project-II and name of the city,decide the procedure for
awarding of consultant's contract and to formulate Tender Procedure for
the contract ,discuss about Goal Project-I and the utilization of the
facilities, inspect the earthquake projects in Peshawar , Muzaffarabad,
Abbottabad and the contracts,to discuss FIFA President Sepp Blatter's
visit to Pakistan next month to inaugurate FIFA Football House.
" FIFA official Manilal has rated Lahore's FIFA Football House among
best in the world", he said.
Originally, the Goal Project-I was to be constructed in Karachi but
non-availability of land forced PFF to convince the FIFA, AFC to shift
the project to Lahore.But now Karachi is well-poised to get the Goal
Project-II after Sindh Chief Minister Dr. Ghulam Arbab Rahim has agreed
to allot a ten acre land in Trans Lyari Park famous as soccer bowl of
the country.
The decision of Sindh CM was few hours ahead of the deadline of October
5, 2006 set by PFF for the confirmation of the finalization of the
allotment of the land otherwise it had threatened to shift the project
to Peshawar as NWFP's had already picked the land for this purpose. —Agencies |
