90% quake victims get interim housing facilities

ISLAMABAD—Deputy Chairman ERRA, Lt. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed hassaid that only 10 percent people are in tents and remaining 90 percent havemid term housing solutions.
Talking to BBC he said, only 10 percent affected people were in tents.Remaining 90 percent have mid term housing solution. While, 50 percent people have started their permanent construction, he added. To a question he said, at present the total number of houses in ruralareas which have been assessed was 8,80,000. Out of this figure 4,58,000houses have been assessed by the Army.
Nearly 121,000 houses have been assessed by the Pakistan PovertyAlleviation Fund. Among them 431,000 people have already received the money.
This money amounted to 30.2 billion rupees, he added. He said, 90 percent people have started mid-term housing solution. There are also cemented houses. They have constructed them by using the C.I sheets wires and material which was lying in the debris.
To another question he said, the amount is transferred directly to theaccount of the beneficiary from the account of ERRA. This fund is not beinggiven in cash to any body. Thus, the question of corruption does not arise at all, he added.—Agencies
