'Quality teachers important for good education'

ISLAMABAD—Chairperson Senate Standing Committee on Education and Science & Technology, Mrs. Razina Alam Khan while acknowledging the role of teachers in the promotion of education Wednesday said quality teachers are critical for good education and developing child's capacity and desire to learn.
The country can make progress and achieve success only if it has best teachers and thriving standards of education, she said in a message issued here in connection with World Teachers Day to acknowledge and praise the services of teachers for the education under the theme "Salam Teachers' Day." The day is being celebrated every year on October 5, as proclaimed by the United Nations to recognise the teaching profession and to raise public awareness about the vital contribution of teachers to the society.
"Salam Teachers Day is an auspicious occasion to extend our courtesy and respect to our teachers. In true spirit, and with all sincerity, we should extend sincerest respect and regard to the ` Arch Builder' of the nation," she added.
Senator Razina said the greater respect we show to them in our words and deeds, the stronger will be Pakistan.
She said the teachers are the pivot in any education system, and they are performing their role according to the best of their abilities and added without human resources development, there could be no serious reconstruction and development of the country and role of teachers at primary, secondary, high and university level could not be denied.
She said the government is committed to provide best possible facilities to the teachers and increase their benefits so that they could play their role more effectively in increasing literacy rate. Senator Razina Alam while referring to the Hadith of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said the Prophet also emphasised the need to get education even if one has to go to China.
She said besides the critical role of the teachers, parents should have to play their key role in taking responsibility for their children's education and urged the parents to send their children to school.
She said there is need to march forward as an educated and disciplined nation to meet the future challenges and added the teachers are important and integral part of promoting and providing education, therefore, the teachers should be given due respect and distinction.
"I beseech all to vow and pledge on this day that, in our every gesture in life, we will respect teachers and give them their well-deserved eminent status, as the true builders of Pakistan.
