Franchised utility stores at each UC level by end year

ISLAMABAD—Arrangements have been finalised to complete franchised
utility stores opening process at country's each union council level by
December 2007.

Hafeez Ahmed Tuesday told a private TV channel that around 1600 sales
points of Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan were providing various
items to masses on reduced rates across the country.
As many as 660 regular stores, 450 mobile points were working across the
country. More than 50 stores were also working in various Sunday
bazaars. Scores of utility stores are serving masses in Sasta bazaars
all over the country. Distribution centres have also been increased upto
28 from 15 for ensuring unhindered supply.More distribution points would
also be established.
Three Sasta bazaars have been established each in Karachi and Lahore.
While sufficient number of Sasta bazaars have also been set up in
Rawalpindi,Islamabad and other areas.
Separate points for selling only sugar have been established in most of
the stores in a bid to cope with rush of visitors. Number of counters in
utility stores have also been enhanced besides increasing the strength
of staff for facilitating customers.
A programme has also been made to replace faulty ECR machines to enable
store managements to quickly complete the payment receipt process, he
