Tareen leaves for Verona to participate in Marble Fair

Islamabad—A Pakistan delegation led by Jahangir Khan Tareen Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives left for Verona, Italy Tuesday to participate in Verona Marble Fair to be held from Oct 5-8, 2006.
This Fair brings in world's leaders of Marble and Granite Industry. Some exporters from Pakistan have been occasionally participating in this Fair in their individual capacities.
Recently Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives has taken up development of Marble and Granite Sector as a priority.
ADevelopment Strategy for the Sector has been formulated and has been approved by president and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
A Sector Company called "Pakistan Stone Development Company" (PASDEC) has been established as the public-private partnership. The funding of the company and its projects is being provided by Government of Pakistan and its being run by the private sector.
One of the function of this company is to promote export marketing of Marble and Granite. It is in this connection that PASDEC will also be participating in the said Verona Fair.
Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special initiatives Jahangir khan Tareen who is leading the delegation will also avail this opportunity to meet dignitaries, leading Marble and Granite Businessmen and Potential Investors in Italy.
