Int'l Conference on Disaster Management to be held next year

ISLAMABAD—International Conference on Disaster Management is being organized in Islamabad in the second of January 2007.
The theme of the conference is 'Caring in Crisis'.
The conference on disaster management aims at bringing back all the health experts, organizations and agencies from around the world who participated in the health care operations following the Earthquake of 08th October 2005.
The conference will also bring together authorities in the field of trauma and crisis management from across the globle. Surgeon General and Head of Medical Services from friendly countries are also expected to attend.
Major General Rehan Burney, D.G Surgery, has been nominated at the chairman of the Organizing Committee.
The conference is being organized by the General Headquarters and Army Medical Corps in collaboration with United Nations and experts in the field from civil. It is worthwhile mentioning that AMC doctors and paramedics have experience of disaster management within the country and abroad having worked in International Medical relief missions. Conference will have workshops, symposia, state of the art lectures and free paper sessions, aimed at discussing the lessons learned from the management of the Disaster of 08th October 2005.
The deliberation in the conference will lead to meaningful recommendations for developing strategies to deal with such crisis in the future.
