Indian, British to hold joint war drills

NEW DELHI--Indian Air Force and the British Royal Air Force will hold joint exercise for the first time at Gwalior and Agra air bases this week.
IAF would be deploying its Russian acquired Sukhoi 30MKIs, upgraded Mig-21 Bisons and ground attack Mig-27 jet fighters against the Royal Air Force's Tornado F-3 fighters in the week-long exercise, an IAF spokesman was quoted as saying here.
"The RAF is also deploying it Air Early Warning and Air Control Aircraft (AWACS) E3-D and VC-10 mid-air refuellers in the exercise aimed at enhancing mutual operational understanding and refine procedural aspects," he said.
To coincide with the exercise, Royal Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy would also be visiting India, said a news report adding, he will view the manoeuvres at Gwalior.
During his visit, Torpy would meet the three service Chiefs and also call on Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee. —Agencies
