Teenage qualifier upsets Dementieva

LUXEMBOURG—Teenage qualifier Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland upset top-seeded Elena Dementieva 7-5, 6-2 Friday to reach the semifinals of the Fortis Championships.
The 17-year-old Radwanska will play Francesca Schiavone, who beat Patty Schnyder 6-1, 6-1. The 95th-ranked Radwanska upset Venus Williams on Thursday.
Kveta Peschke beat fourth-seeded Dinara Safina 6-4, 6-3. Peschke will face Alona Bondarenko, who defeated Nathalie Dechy 5-7, 6-4, 6-0.
Dementieva had trouble with her serve, with five of her seven double faults coming in the first set. With the win, Radwanska improved to 29-12.
Peschke relied on her strong serve, while the 11th-ranked Safina had three double faults in the second set.—Agencies
