MQM, PPP
annoy over Govt contact with MMA
ISLAMABAD—Government allied party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and
Pakistan People’s Party (Parliamentarian) in the National Assembly on
Tuesday protested against the government talks with the religious
alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) on Hudood Ordinance Amendment
Bill.
The MQM warned that it would not accept any law presented in the House
prepared out of the parliament.
On a point of order, Abdul Mujeeb Pirzada said that the Assembly meeting
was extended due to bring amendments in Hudood ordinance despite the
bills on Hudood ordinance already present in the NA are not debated. He
said it had been known that a committee outside the parliament was
bringing amendments in the Hudood ordinance and the House was ignorant
to it.
The speaker told the House as he had no copy of the Hudood ordinance
(women protection Bill) therefore he could not allow anybody to talk on
the issue.
Asadullah Bhutto of the MMA said that the government had convened
meeting to discuss the Bill and the MMA was not part of it.
Pervez Malik of the PML (N) said they come to know about the parliament
activities through newspapers. He said it was the duty of the speaker to
inform the house about next activity.
Abdul Qadir Khanzada said the government should explain about the
progress on Women Protection Bill. “Decision are being taken bypassing
the select committee and the MQM will not accept any such law presented
in the House,” he added.—Online |
