Resignations if women bill passed: Hafiz

ISLAMABAD—MMA central leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmad has said the religious alliance will bid adieu to a house where legislation is enacted in repugnant to the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
He said this while addressing MMA women wing led protest rally outside the parliament against the women protection bill. The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti Hudood ordinance mendment bill.
Hafiz Hussain Ahmad announced government would not be allowed to enact legislation contrary to the Holy Quran and Sunnah. " We will say good bye to the house where a bill is passed in defiance of Hudood Allah (limits set by Allah).
He went on to say a committee was set up in this respect. The government labeled MMA stance a political stance in the meeting of the committee. " we challenged government stance. We asked government to nominate ulema on its part. The government called them. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Wasi Zafar and law secretary spent three days in this regard.
PML nominated ulema supported MMA stance saying the clauses incorporated in this bill are against the injunctions of the Holy Quran.
Government is now working out new draft, he told. No bill will be passed today and no bill in conflict with the Holy Quran and Sunnah will be allowed to be passed, he added.
He stressed government should prepare new bill inclusive of all the clauses, which are in consonance with the Holy Quran and Sunnah. No embassy or NGO could do away with these laws. We will tolerate every one for Pakistan but nothing will be tolerated against the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
Liaqat Baloch said the NGO women and westernized women are not representative women of the country. The amendment bill is an act of high handedness on the sentiments of Muslims. Some external forces are behind the rulers and they want to enforce their culture and civilization in the country.
He demanded the present Council of Islamic Ideology be abolished and the incumbent chief justice of Federal Shariat Court be replaced with the new one who is well conversant with the teachings of Quran and Sunnah.—Online
