Balochistan leading to progress: Naseer Mengal

ISLAMABAD—State Minister for Petroleum Mir M Naseer Mengal on Monday said that despite political disturbance in Balochistan, the province was on its way to progress.
He said in the past, Balochistan was a neglected province and it was for the first time that President Pervez Musharraf gave preference to it by initiating many mega projects there.
He said, coastal highway was a big project due to which distance from Karachi to Gwadar had been reduced from three days to 6-7 hours which would increase trade activities in the area.
Mirani dam was being constructed and other dams were under construction so the water problem could be solved in Balochistan, he said, adding that it would bring green revolution in the province.
Naseer Mengal said, 'Rozgar scheme' had been introduced and the government openly said that Balochistan would be given preference in this scheme.
He said the people of Balochistan should realize the importance of developmental projects in the area and appreciate it so that this process continues in the province.
Talking about Gwadar he said, once it was completed it would bring a big change and revolution in the economy of Balochistan.—Agencies
